Constitution Place
Constitution Place is a landmark structure and premium business address located on the corner of London Circuit and Constitution Avenue. Spanning two buildings, this dynamic precinct houses a combination of hotel and dining amenities, commercial institutions and government offices.
BRIEF
From fabrication to execution, our team worked closely with the client to design and install a series of steel bridges with glazed balustrades that wrap around the edge of the atrium.
Complete with stainless steel handrails, each bridge was constructed from approximately 1100kg of mild steel with a powder coat finish in the shade ‘satin white’.
The balustrades were crafted from a curved mild steel substructure, clad with 3mm thick aluminium panels. Laser cutting technology was used to create a custom pattern prior to rolling to ft the various radii of the atrium. Within the lower section of the balustrade, below floor level, we installed thermal and acoustic insulation behind the structure.
An additional 80 tonnes of structural steel was used in the construction of the precinct’s basement levels, lift shafts and fire stairs. Accessibility challenges required in-depth planning and unconventional rigging methods for a safe and successful installations.
Delivered on time and to budget, this project was awarded as the 2021 Project of the Year by the Master Builders ACT.
